Photos, videos, previews, thumbnails, messages, and note bodies are encrypted on the iPhone before their protected bytes are stored. The service coordinates the place and delivery without receiving device private keys or plaintext media.
The keys stay on-device
Each iPhone creates and keeps its private identity. The server stores only the information needed to coordinate encrypted sharing.
Leaving has a real path
Pause locally, leave the place, request closure together, export during the supported window, or permanently remove shared data.
